2024: What the funds raised will be spent on

2024: What the funds raised will be spent on

This year’s telethon will raise funds for the Norwegian Childhood Cancer Society, which plans to establish family housing near the university hospitals in Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen, and Oslo. These homes will allow seriously ill children to stay with their families throughout their treatment.

The Norwegian Childhood Cancer Society has been awarded this year’s telethon. Together, we will:

  • Ensure families stay together, even if they live far from the hospital.
  • Allow seriously ill children to spend time with their entire family while receiving treatment.
  • Help parents look after all their children, themselves, and each other.
  • Help siblings to be included, recognized and looked after.
  • Provide families with a sense of normalcy and calm during a challenging time.

Together for Little Heroes

In Norway, a child is diagnosed with cancer every other day, and ten children are born with heart defects each week. When a child becomes seriously ill, the entire family is affected. Often, the child has to travel long distances for vital treatment, causing the family to be split up for extended periods.

The funds raised by this year’s telethon will enable the Norwegian Childhood Cancer Society to establish family housing near the university hospitals in Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen, and Oslo. These homes will allow seriously ill children to stay with their families during treatment, ensuring siblings are cared for and allowing families to create positive memories during a difficult time.

The family will have the chance to create a home from home. The family will have the chance to create a home from home. They will be able to support one another through one of the most difficult periods in their lives and take a well-deserved break from the solemn hospital corridors.

On Sunday 20 October, we will unite for our little heroes.
